The strange thing began when out of nowhere they stopped giving me the stuttering for 2 weeks and one day out of nowhere they happened again, the first thing he did was to analyze the hard drives with various programs such as Crystal Disk or Macrorit Disk Scanner and all of them told me that the hard drives were impeccable without any problems. Then I decided to analyze my 2 SSD’s to see if that was the problem and as I assumed everything was correct.
At that time I decided to prescribe my pc to see if it was a compatibility problem with some software that had been corrupted, everything was going great until the stuttering started again (it should be noted that I changed the position of the hard drives to see if it was a management problem but everything was still the same). Then I remembered what had happened to me with the failures in the screen so I assumed it was my card and as I always update my drivers I thought of cleaning it and rearrange it,
After cleaning it I tested it and at first everything was normal until the stutters came back again. From that moment I thought it was the power supply and that it was somehow mismanaging the energy of the hard drives so I changed 1 of them for the laptop I used before and the thing was still the same. That is where I got desperate looking for the exact reason why my pc started to fail but I found nothing so I resorted to this forum so that the most knowledgeable can help me before something worse happens.
Something to keep in mind is that the stutters are random and can happen at any time, for example one day nothing happens to me and the next day it can be happening constantly. The symptoms that provoke these stutters are: audio distortion, freezing of the mouse, etc.
My Set Up:
– RTX 2060 6GB STRIX ADVANCED EDITION
– I5 9400F WITH THE STOCK COOLER
– 16 GB RAM DDR4 2666MHZ
– THE 3 SEAGATE BARRACUDA HARD DRIVES
– 1 SSD SATA SAMSUNG 250 GB
– 1 SSD M.2 KINGSTON 500 GB
– PSU SPEKTRA 650W (I know it is a generic power supply but this one has never failed me and I have had it for 1 year but I think it could be that too because even though I used to use laptop hard disks that consumed less than normal ones it could be a problem of unstable power supply).
– MOTHERBOARD ASUS PRIME H310-E R2.0
I hope you can help me with this problem before something more serious happens.
You didn’t try testing exactly the way I suggested, which was initially to remove all 3 Barracuda drives and the laptop drives, so that only the SSD drives were attached.
Now see if you still get stuttering. If you do then it is something else causing the problem, possibly drivers or an update, but we have ruled the drives out as the cause.
If you didn’t get stuttering, then it could be a power problem or some kind of hardware incompatibility, so to check for this you add one of the Barracuda drives, nothing else.
Check the result of that test – stuttering or not? If it is ok with one Barracuda, add another Barracuda – If it stutters this time there is more power being demanded, but we still can’t rule out a hardware conflict, but we are narrowing the cause down.
You will have to do some more of this experimentation yourself, because although I could write out a whole list of instructions I cannot see the results of these tests, or how your hardware is wired up.
you could try using a different nvidia video-driver. a new driver has been released that you could try, version 466.11. or, you could try rolling back to an earlier driver, earlier than the one that you currently have installed.
at the moment, i have nvidia driver version 461.40 installed. it seemed that people had issues with the drivers that came after that one, except that, with the latest driver, 466.11, at least some people had some good things to say about it.
if you look at the releasenotes for the latest nvidia drivers, it says that there can be some issues when using “HDR,” particularly when there are conflicts between nvidia settings and windows settings.
also, in the releasenotes for the latest windows 10 cumulative update, it says that it addresses some video-stuttering problems, particularly relating to “g-sync.”

you didn’t say which version of windows 10 you have installed. with windows 10-2004, lots of people complained about stuttering video. if you are running windows 10-2004, you could try updating to windows 10-20H2. maybe that would help with resolving the video-stuttering problem.

The power supply is a Spektra 650W and has the pins that you are telling me, this has never failed me (despite being a non-certified source) and I’ve had it running for 1 year with heavy games like Gears 5 or Control with raytracing, so it seems very strange that so far with these 3 hard drives I have this kind of problems.
I have it installed on the Samsung SATA SSD because this way the programs open faster and I only install the most important programs there due to its limited space of 250 GB, so I leave free the M.2 Kingston for games since it has 500 GB. It is also worth mentioning that the SATA SSD has never failed me so far.
Can you post which version of Windows you have please, also the exact model of the Seagate Barracuda drives.
The RTX 2060 recommends a Minimum 500 W or greater system power supply with one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connector – does your Spektra PSU have this connector? If you do not have this plugged in, the graphics card has to get all of its power through the PCI-E slot, and with all the other hardware plugged in there is only so much power to go round.

Here is a test you can try:
If Windows is installed on the SSD (I presume you used the M.2 Kingston for this) unplug the 3 hard drives. Does the stuttering still occur? If it doesn’t then it could be a power problem.
So then, retry it with one drive attached, if that is ok then two. If the problem comes back with two drives it is definitely a power issue.
