Monitor not displaying2021-04-20T11:02:18+01:00

Windows 10 home fully up to date, 32 gig of ram 6 cores

Wasn’t sure where to post this problem as it could be caused by a number of things?

Anyway, I use a dual monitor display connected to a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 super graphics card, the card is only 2 months old and has worked perfectly until I started my PC desktop yesterday morning. The PC booted up as normal, but only monitor 2 showed the main desktop, the other monitor would not switch on, yet I could move the mouse cursor onto that monitor even though all I could see on that monitor was a black screen.
This is where the fun starts:- I fiddled around with the hdmi cables, even trying a new one with no luck, then about an hour later the missing display suddenly came on again and continued working properly for the rest of the day?
Then today I started my PC and the monitor that didn’t work yesterday was now working, but the monitor that was working yesterday was now a black screen?
So I know it is not the monitors that are at fault, and in Display Settings both monitors are shown and said to be working correctly? I have restarted the PC several times with no change, only one monitor displays.

I really don’t know where to start trouble shooting this problem, I’ve checked the drivers and run the trouble shooter in Display Settings with no change?

Swapped the power cables and both monitors are now working! I have no idea why switching the power cables sorted the problem  but the system booted up without a problem today.

Thank you for your help!

Hi, Always supply make/model of system and build # of Windows 10 please.

It could be the monitor is having issues, suggest switch them and see if that issue goes to the monitor in the new order.

There could be some corruption issues in your saved files/profiles. Re-save all settings again.   Re-seat the Video Card.

If the monitor stays on, but you lose the video signal, it’s very likely an issue with the video card or motherboard in the computer. A computer randomly shutting off can also be an issue with the computer or video card overheating or a defect with the video card.

Check your Motherboard Support site for Bios flashes and new drivers and apply them if there.

Could be some corruption issues with Windows files : this should be run monthly as part of maintenance please do this to see if it fixes any issue : From the Keyboard press the Windows Key and the X Key and choose Powershell (Admin) OR  START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | RIGHT-click on cmd.exe | select “Run as Administrator” then Copy/Paste –> :
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command then Enter
if it finds problems then reboot. (Completed Successfully means reboot)
For more information about this command please see : https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image
After : please Open another Admin Command Prompt and please run Copy/Paste –> SFC /SCANNOW into the Dos window or Powershell and Enter.  Reboot after.
The 1st goes up to Microsoft for new files if any are found to be corrupted. The 2nd will then check it self and update it self and fix issues if found.
