PC never stops loading2021-04-19T10:48:09+01:00

I’m not quite sure I’m in the right area but here goes. My PC (HP) keeps continuously loading after starting up. The PC started out with windows 8, then to 8.1 and now the latest version of 10. It’s been upgraded to 10 for several years so what has changed has me puzzled. I can access the net and surf OK but the PC continues to peck away staying busy. I’m talking never stops, not just a long time.

Hi
Most HP computers have built in diagnostics in the bios, to access Turn on the computer and immediately press esc repeatedly, about once every second.
If all the tests check out then when windows has started press ctrl alt delete and see what program is using the most resources. If it is a non windows program then try disabling it. If it is a windows component then try.
From a administrator command prompt. Run SFC /scannow to ask windows to check the system files.

Yes it does. I just booted it up and it was still busy at least 3 to 4 minutes after I could have gotten online. It does slow down quite a bit but starts pecking away again with hardly much of a pause. My wife does have 5 flash drives hooked up if that makes a difference. I have two on the one I’m posting on and it stops shortly after I can get online. I just went and checked it and it’s still pecking away.

I unplugged all of the flash drives but it didn’t seem to help much. I changed my router recently and decided to remove (forget) all of the wireless networks I had with the old router, and thought it seemed to help but just now went to shut it down and reboot it and found it pecking away as before

Does it stop when you’re just opening programs with no internet connection?
