Win 10 Pro. As the title says the computer restarts even though I choose shut down. I don’t believe it always does it but more often than not.

This has happened to me also. Turns out with me, I had updates waiting for the computer to restart before I tried to shut it down. Once the updates are installed, it shuts down just fine.

I wanted you to wait till it happened. If 3rd try works then all the solutions won’t work. If 3rd try doesn’t work, then things like turning off Fast Start might work. If FS unchecking and changing power button stll result in the problem intermittently, change them back to default.

Not sure about the third try. I’ve been pulling pulling the plug before it can restart a third time. A google search found turning off fast start up. I tried it & it seems to be working.

Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable
Uncheck ‘Turn on fast start up’ & click ‘Save settings’.

When it does it, does it shut down on the third try? If so there is no solution. Unlike old computers, you can safely shut it down with the Power Switch with no ill effect.
