Windows 10 slow boot even after fresh install2021-04-20T09:23:26+01:00

It’s taking too long (6 or 7 mins and sometimes 10 mins) for my laptop to boot even after a fresh install with only few software installed.

Product: HP Pavilion – 14-ce0052tx
CPU: Intel® Core i5-8250U
RAM: 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
HDD: 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA
OS: Windows 10 Pro

I’ve tried to disable fast startup, updating windows and driver versions to latest, removing startup applications from task manager but nothing helps.

After the HP loading screen, blank (black) screen is displayed for very long and then the login screen appear. Even after login, windows remain slow for few minutes before I can use it normally.

I used Windows Performance Record to trace the boot process but I’m not expert at WPR and WPA tools. Can someone take a look and let me know what’s taking all the boot time?

A clean install will remove all the rubbish and reformat and repartition the disk.

A fresh install may have preserved bloatware that is slowing you down.

If you plan to do a fresh install you don’t ask the installer to keep apps and files.
That means you need a backup of all data. You also need to know how to reinstall any software.

Don’t use any third party anti virus. Defender should be good enough and won’t slow you down.

I formatted the volume during the fresh install and I believe no previous data is left.

Before the fresh installation did you clean the disk from all previous installations? If not repeat the installation and when the first window has loaded launch diskpart (learn the basic commands) with shift+F10, delete everything on disk with command “clean” for safety just create a new partition so you’re sure all previous data is unrecoverable (I suspect windows can identify it during installation). Also check the BIOS settings before doing the installation, activate UEFI and make sure the disk is GPT.
